Kaysa Jalbert 5-step critical analysis

  1. Great entry Kaysa. I find interesting that you have chosen an article that looks back onto previous reporting of the need to sanitize surfaces in order to remain protected from infection. I find this an excellent example of the need to review and re-examine previous theories, which might have lead to misreporting and misunderstanding. It also emphasizes the problems of "breaking the news" or reporting on research too early, as well as the role that WHO has had and still has as an institution that sets the rule of action. In the evaluation phase, you ponder your analysis and interpretation and present your final assessment regarding how well or how poorly this article presents the information (is it potentially bias? Does it water-down evidence? Does it present the information pedagogically? Finally, in the evaluation stage, you need to explain how you would be taking action towards any of the issues that had emerged in your evaluation. For instance, if you feel that the data has been watered-down, how would you take civil action to engage your friends and the public in responsible writing and reading of facts and figures.

  2. Sorry, in my last comment I meant the "engagement" stage, not the evaluation stage.
